MY College Life

After graduating from high school, I began attending the Engineering college. After about a year I became very bored. I was also very lonely because all of my friends had moved away. I realized that I was growing restless and could no longer focus on my classes. I decided that it was time for a change. I withdrew from all my classes, and gave all of my clothing to my friends and the local thrift store. I bought a one-way ticket to Chennai and broke the news to my parents who understandably were dumbfounded. Within two weeks of making my decision, I was on my way to Chennai. I had no plan and no luggage except for a small school backpack. For nine months I traveled around SouthChennai and experienced adventure after adventure - from trekking in the Himalayas to appearing in a Thai movie and sitcom I experienced more then most people experience in a lifetime, all at the age of 18. Looking back on the whole experience, I still find it hard to believe that I did it. I now know that I am capable of doing just about anything I put my mind to and that I have no problem with stepping out of my comfort zone.

If you’re a regular visitor to the Selvabalaji.8m.com you’ve no doubt noticed that regular posting on the site has slowed a bit. A combination of a more demanding job and a growing family have been the culprits. But, I’ve missed the writing and interfacing with readers and am hoping to get back to a more regular schedule soon. In the meantime I’m very excited to announce that bala - a successful IT professional and good friend - has agreed to be a guest contributor on the this site. I was excited to hear that bala will be an author here because he brings tons of good experience from many areas of IT software. bala has over 10 years of IT software and Financial experience and is currently the Sr. Director Selvabalaji Software pvt Ltd at Thiruvarur and also Financial Services - a SSP software and services company. Bala is currently responsible for go-to-market strategy and is responsible for IT - management, internet marketing, creative service pricing, and Research Development . He has also led product management. Aside from work he enjoys spending time with his family, biking, Chating , golfing, and snowboarding. bala’s first article will be published
